I started painting when I was 5, in suburban Moscow with a very well known Russian Painter N. Dubenskaya. This relationship spanned over the next 20 years, until it was abruptly ended by her passing away. Over these 20 years, my pieces entered into various exhibitions around Moscow and St. Petersburg, and were noted by different influential people around the art scene, including the internationally famous painter, Ilya Glazunov, whose profile you can navigate to by clicking here.

The emotional impact of the passing of my teacher and friend forced me to stop painting for the next 10 years. In 1985, the event of perestroika and its aftermath spanning way beyond 1994 heavily influenced me and gave second thoughts about picking painting up again. I had a vision to extract colours and brightness into an otherwise dull world. However, painting was still not a priority in my life at the time, and I could not put the paintbrush to the canvas. After moving to Australia in 1995, I slowly started painting again, and soon found my love for art as I had in my early youth. The electrifying beauty of Australian countryside and its flora and fauna, intensified my long lost passion for painting. I was realizing my own technique based on my older vision, where I could see colours in the darkest of blacks, however now I could also see the colours that Mother Nature gave to us.

Ten years after moving to Australia, in 2005, I had my first art exhibition with my developing technique of painting. This was a rather successful event, and the proceeds were donated to various charities that I support. In 2007, the National Art Gallery of Victoria (NGV) held a joint exhibition in Southbank, Melbourne, where I entered one of my paintings. The NGV awarded me the top award of excellence. Over the next year, I have further developed my style and combined with another major artist on the Melbourne scene, Elena Ryazanoff , whose website you can find here. Currently, Elena and I are in the process of opening our own joint gallery in the heart of Mornington Peninsula. Please stay tuned for more information about the gallery. Once again, thank you for visiting my website, and I hope that you enjoy my works.
